My multi-colored oak lamp
With some scrap wood, a few extra electronics and a little bit of fabric, I put together this lamp as a Christmas present. The controls are embedded directly into the wood and sensed via a capacitive touch chip. The LEDs are individually programable, leaving the opportunity for more complex color pallets in the future.
The electronics
A simple MCU and a capacitive touch chip allowed me to embed the controls directly into the wood. I think it improved the simplicity of my design and the seemless integration of electronics into the woodwork is unmatched as compared to other button types.
LED strip to drive the light
Wood burned button panel
The wood-burned buttons keep the raw wood feel to the buttons and complemented the stain nicely.
Wood frame for the fabric
First step in completing the shade for the lamp
The electronics interface
You can power on, change the brightness and color of the LEDs with the buttons on the front
Final product, ready for giving!
